Woking Ladies 1 - 2 Horley Town Ladies
Horley Ladies travelled to Woking Ladies on Sunday with some trepidation after losing 1-4 at home earlier in the season, but managed to turn the tables and come away with a hard earned victory.
In an evenly contested first half Woking took the lead when a poor clearance from Rosie Muggeridge was hammered into the back of the net. Town worked hard to get back into the game. With midfielders Vicky Hynes, Hayley Stone, Emma Eldridge and Zoe Pielow working hard to create chances for the Amys (Scrivens and Fazackerley). Town were rewarded when a free kick was given for a foul on left-back Bev Loftus just inside the Woking half. Rosie Muggeridge atoned for her earlier mistake when her superb free kick outwitted for Stone to equalise. Half time came with the score 1-1.
The second half continued with both teams striving for the winning goal. Town keeper, Helen Smith, made several good saves, and some resolute defending from the back four (Lisa Price, Gemma Wilson, Rosie Muggeridge, Bev Loftus) kept the Woking forwards in check.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw. With ten minutes to go, Zoe Pielow and Lisa Price worked the ball down the right hand side and crossed for Stone to crash home the winner from 25 yards, taking the three points.
Team: Smith, Price, Wilson, Muggeridge, Loftus, Pielow, Hynes, Stone, Eldridge, Fazackerley, Scrivens, Villette.
Next week Town are at home to London Women, K.O 2pm
